Elizabeth made dessert!

An example of post formats ‒ This is an aside post format. Andrew Spittle is talking about them right now at the WordPress DC meetup.

Civic Duty and America

If you’re American and you haven’t voted yet today, please do so.

I voted this morning to get it done before work. In a city like DC where it’s very common to leave for work before 8 and not get home until 7, I expected the polls to be at least moderately busy. After all, in Virginia, polls are open from 6 am to 7 pm, which means the morning is the only time a lot of people even can vote.

Starting Things the Right Way

First snow of the season today, so we had chocolate pecan pie and hot drinks after dinner. Elizabeth and her mom had hot buttered rum and I had a hot toddy (pictured).

An Afternoon at Great Falls

So a week ago, my wife Elizabeth was a week plus overdue. So what do you think we did a week ago Sunday?

New Site!

This blog has been somewhat binary in its focus; sometimes about code, sometimes life updates. I know some of you are interested in the tech-related posts, others in the life updates. Perhaps a few of you are interested in both.

My method for keeping the two separate has been to use categories to make it easy for anybody who wished to view the content separately or together.

I’ve decided to change things up a bit. I’ll be writing only about my life, thoughts, and such here. All tech-related posts will live at code.johnpbloch.com. I got the idea from Ipstenu, who does the same thing. I’ve started things off over there with my thoughts on WordCamp San Francisco this year.

If you use a feed reader, you’ll need to add the feed for the new site if you want to get updated when I post there. I’ll still be tweeting new posts, and probably sharing them on Google+ as well, so if you follow me there, you’ll still see all those updates.
